Qurs aqili is a well-known Kuwaiti sweet in the Gulf, a light cake-like treat made with eggs, sesame, cardamom and saffron. It is said that its name comes from the aqal (the cord worn on the head) because of a resemblance, but this is a popular explanation with no documented proof. Vanilla is replaced with cardamom and rose water.
