Recipe No.: E-40
Emirati60 minServes 4

Safi is a well-known Gulf fish, called rabbitfish in English, and Emiratis enjoy it grilled or in a stir-cooked rice dish called mahmar. It should be cleaned carefully before cooking, since its spines can hurt the hand if handled carelessly.

- 1 tbspcoarse salt
- 1 tspturmeric
- 1 tspground cumin
- 1 tbspground coriander
- 4 clovesgarlic, crushed
- 3 tbspoil
- 1Juice of lemon

- Stuff the belly with the onion, coriander and lemon slices and leave for 30 to 45 minutes.
- Grill over medium charcoal or in a 220°C oven for 10 to 12 minutes per side, brushing with a little oil so it does not dry out.
